Coke ovens. - In a " twin flue " cohe oven having regenerators c running longitudinally beneath the ovens, the air for combustion is admitted to the regenerators from the cellar space beneath the oven structure through openings a so that the length of path between the air inlet to and the waste gas outlet from associated regenerators is the same for all the heating-flues on the same side of the air intet. In the oven shown, in which the two halves of a heating-wall are connected to their own regenerator systems and exhaust flues f, the openings a are situated along the median line of the battery. The pipes g, g<1> supplying gas to the heating-flues are also placed in the cellar space beneath the regenerators.
