Combined with auxiliary pumps; valves, arrangement of.-In a lubricating system comprising a mechanical pump and a hand pump connected by a pipe, the mechanical pump draws from the reservoir 3 through ports 17 in the connecting pipe 15. When the hand pump 2 is operated, a slide valve 18 is pushed down by the delivery pressure of the liquid on the ball valve 22, and closes the ports 17. The liquid enters the pump 2 through an annular valve 13 and is delivered past the ball valve 22 and through holes 20 in the slide valve 18. When the hand pump is at rest, a spring 21 returns the valve 18 to the uppper position and opens the ports 17.
