Stuffing-box joints.-A joint or connection between two pipes a, a<1> comprises a housing b and a ring g, formed in two or more segments, having a single central integral positioning rib g', fluid-tightness being secured by means of packing rings h, h' which are compressed between the ring g and a flange b<1> at one end of the housing b and a gland c at the other end respectively. The gland may be provided with a strengthening shroud c<2> which also protects the joint, while the interior of the ring g, on each side of the rib g<1>, may be recessed and the mouth of the gland flared for permitting slight canting of the pipes.
