Abstract

149,454. Salley, T. P. May 20, 1919. Overlap joints with packing at base or mouth of socket; joints with yielding inner part expanded. -Relates to a hose pipe coupling of the k i n d comprising spigot and socket members 10, 11 having annular channels 12 into which the ends of the hose are expanded by split bands 13, the members 10, 11 being connected by pins 18 on the members 10 engaging the recessed ends 20 of inclined slots 19 in the member 11. The invention consists in the provision of an annular rabbeted portion 14, 16 on each member in which a rubber gasket 15, 17 is fitted, the end of each member being adapted to come into flat contact with the gasket carried by the other member.
