Abstract

622,058. Joints for concrete pipes. ELLIS & SONS, Ltd., J. and FROLICH, A. March 7, 1947, No. 6485. [Class 99(i)] A spigot and socket joint for the adjacent ends of concrete pipes has a resilient packing ring with an expanded root b moulded into the inner wall of the socket and with projecting leg members c, d, which are normally splayed apart, Fig. 2, but are adapted to be folded together by the spigot, Fig. 4, so as to seal the joint. During formation of the socket, the projecting leg c is distorted to lie axially in contact with the former used in the mould, i.e. in a corresponding but opposite position to the leg d. Specification 583,459 is referred to.
