Abstract

Cup-leather sleeve joints.-The elasticity of the inturned edges 23, 24, of a leak-proof ring 20 of the type described in Specification 149,381 for jointing pipes &c. is obtained or enhanced by springs 25 embedded in said inturned edges. The springs 25, which, if the ring 20 is of rubber, may be inserted before vulcanization, may be coiled springs or may be of a zig-zag formation, Fig. 2, in which case the inner end of the ring is of smaller diameter than the outer end.
