Abstract
253,983. Cox, A. March 20, 1925. Spray carburettors.-For promoting gas-tunbulence, a throttle valve of the butterfly type is formed with projections in the form of transverse ridges b, c. These may extend across only part of the diameter of the valve and may be formed to provide shoulders b<1>, c<1> on the side of approach only of the mixture when the throttle is fully open. Turbulence may be further increased by the provision of grooves or holes in the ridges b, c, which grooves &c. may be placed so as to impart a twisting flow to the gases. Where a choke tube is used the valve disc is of such a size that in the open-throttle position the aggregate crosssectional area of the gas passages at the deflecting parts does not exceed that of the passage in the choke tube.
