Abstract

247,044. Blomquist, J. V. May 5, 1925. Rotary boilers; feedwater, supplying and controlling.-Water is supplied to rotary, tubular steam generating elements 5 through a receptacle 3 which is in communioation at its upper part with the steam discharge pipe 6. The supply of water to the receptacle may be automatically controlled by a device operated by a float in the receptacle. To prevent the water in an element from falling below the level of the supply pipe 4 upon a rise of pressure, the supply pipe 4 is surrounded by a pipe 8 which, when the water level falls, places the upper part of the receptacle in communication with the boiler steam space. Alternatively, a throttle valve in the steam pipe 6 is opened by a float in the receptacle when the level falls. The supply pipe may extend downwards inside the receptacle and boiler. The speed of rotation of the elements is so controlled from the feed-control device that the speed is increased when the water level falls. Specifications 1218/76 and 193,417 are referred to.
