Liquid fuel supply.-A float l, Fig. 5, in a vessel B in the feed pipe of a boiler is connected to a valve 0 controlling the escape of air from a pipe r connected to the apparatus supplying fuel to the burner. When the feed is stopped, the water level in the vessel B falls and the float opens the valve 0, thus allowing air to escape and lowering the intensity of the burner flame. In a modification, the pressure in the air pipe is normally balanced by a water column, and air escapes through the column when the water level falls in the column upon a stoppage of the feed supply.
