Abstract

339,126. Cabell, P. M. Dec. 16, 1929. Flash generators; feedwater, supplying. -The feed pipe 15 supplying water or other liquid to the upper end of a flash boiler 10 has an upflow portion 21 containing a column of liquid which is depressed and the feed supply stopped when the boiler pressure exceeds the pressure in the feed pipe. The feed is maintained under constant pressure by pumping air into the top of the feed tank 14 through a pipe 20. The vapour passes through an expansion chamber 17 serving to damp oscillations in the vapour pressure.
