Abstract
510,602. Supply and delivery arrangements for water heaters. NELSON, E., NELSON, T. B. and NELSON, A. Feb. 3, 1938, No. 3324. [Class 64 (i)] Water supplied through a control valve 9 to a storage chamber 2 flows from the upper end of the chamber through a pipe containing a non- return valve 7 to the bottom of a gas or electrically heated chamber 1, from which it is discharged through an inverted U-shaped pipe 10. Steam generated in the heating chamber enters the top of the storage chamber through a pipe 14. When the pipe 14 is closed by a valve 15, boiling water is discharged through the outlet pipe 10 by the steam pressure in the heating chamber. The upper end of the outlet pipe opens through a pipe 12 into the top of the storage chamber or into the atmosphere to prevent syphoning. The burner 4 is controlled by a thermostat 13 which is bye-passed when boiling water is required and again brought into operation when the valve 15 has been closed.
