Vertical boilers.-A steam-generating water jacket 3 enclosing the shaft 4 of a refuse destructor is widened at its upper part 5 which is arranged eccentrically, as shown, or concentrically. The outer shell 7 of the jacket is corrugated at 10 and connected to the part 5 by an intermediate member 6. The top of the boiler is connected by a pipe 12 with an unheated drum 13 into which the water is discharged over the edge of a funnel 14 arranged just below the water level in the drum. Feedwater is supplied to the drum 13 and flows down the pipe 17 to the jacket.
