Abstract

600,793. Water-tube steam boilers. NORDLUND, K. F. Aug. 17, 1945, No. 20986. [Class 123(ii)] In a boiler comprising parallel - coupled water tubes 5, preferably coiled and of small internal diameter, which extend from a lower waterinlet header 3, connected to an upper steam and water drum 1 by a downcomer 2, to a higher outlet header 6 connected to the drum 1 by a riser 7, the upper end of the header 3 is in direct or indirect communication with the steam space of said drum by one or more tubes 4 located externally of the boiler furnace to permit the escape of steam accumulated therewithin, and, preferably, the downcomer 2 is provided with a water-seal 9, choke nozzle or other steam-flow preventing device. The outlet header 6 may be dispensed with, in which case the tubes 5 are connected direct to the steam space of the drum 1.
