Abstract

633,415. Locomotive boilers. TRIGGS, W. W. (Superheater Co.). Sept. 16, 1946, No. 27689. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 1, 1947]. [Class 123(ii)] In the locomotive boiler described in Specification 633,414, the forward end of the steam collecting header 52 which projects into the water barrel 10 is provided with a steam separator 70. The latter is adapted to permit the release of steam directly into the steam space of the barrel 10 and to discharge any excess water, to mix with the water in said barrel, from either above or below the water level therein, Figs. 1 and 3 respectively. In a modification, Fig. 4, the excess water is led by piping 71 to the inlet 20 of one or both of the water-circulating pumps 22. The separator may be as described in Specification 598,160.
