Abstract
554,537. Return-tube steam boilers. FARRAR BOILERWORKS, Ltd., and PALMER, J. E. Dec. 31, 1941, No. 16835. [Class 123 (ii)] Cross water tubes 17a extend upwardly across the furnace flue 10 of a return-tube boiler, and manholes 19 are provided in the boiler shell to afford access to the lower ends of the tubes. The cross tube nearest the combustion chamber 14 is inclined upwardly towards the tube plate 18. The return tubes 15 are reduced in external and internal diameter at their ends near the tube plate 18. A firebrick ring 20 fitted in the rear end of the furnace flue extends into the combustion chamber.
