Abstract
567,726. Fire-tube boilers. SPENCERBONECOURT, Ltd., and JOHNSTON, W. F. June 24,1943, No. 10197. [Classes 64 (iii) and 123 (ii)] A waste-heat fire-tube boiler comprises a main shell 1, a group 11 of fire tubes disposed between a waste gas flue 23 and a smoke box 16, and a group 12 of return fire tubes 12 leading from said smoke box 16 to a second smoke box 17 which is in communication with an induced draught flue 18. All the tubes 11, 12 are jointed to a common plate 9 at the smoke box end 16, but at the opposite end they are jointed to separate plates 4, 6 respectively, the plate 6 being formed with an eccentric aperture 8 for passage of the tubes 11. and the two plates being connected by an annular extension 2 of the boiler shell 1. The tubes of the group 11 are arranged in two sections, with a vertical lane therebetween, and the tube group 12 also in two sections disposed respectively at opposite sides of said group 11.
