Abstract

240,631. Heenan, J. N. D. Sept. 24, 1924. Arrangements of superheating tubes in boiler furnaces.-In a boiler furnace for pulverized fuel, and having a screen of water-tubes across the lower part of the combustion chamber, a superheater is arranged beneath the water-tubes. In furnaces having an ashpit at the front, the superheater consists of U-tubes 5, supported at their free ends by refractory blocks 8. In a modification in which the ashpit is centrally disposed, the superheater tubes are straight and connected by inlet and outlet headers on opposite sides of the furnace.
