Abstract

232,895. Pougher, A. W. Jan. 26, 1925. Addition to 192,001. Lenses.-In a front glass or lens for a vehicle lamp comprising a central boss portion a and two sets of concentric prisms adapted to project an outer divergent beam of diffused light concentric with an inner divergent beam of intense light as described in the parent Specification, the grooves between one set of prisms align with the median parts of the prisms of the other set. The two sets of prisms may be formed upon the two faces of a single piece of glass or two pieces of glass may be provided each having a set of prisms formed thereon. The front set of prisms b are triangular in section and the rear set c truncated, the centre lines of the prisms being all the same distance apart and the depth of the prisms increasing from the centre outwards either in succession or in a succession of pairs as shown in the Figure. The height of the projected beam may be restricted by making the upper portions of some or all of the prisms horizontal, or portions of the prisms may be frosted or coated with a filtering or opaque substance.
