Abstract

129,257. Benard-Barbier et Turenne. June 29, 1918, [Convention date]. Revolving lamps.-Prismatic optical elements are placed in front of the substantially parallel beam or beams of light from a revolving projector, beacon, or signal lamp, more especially for use in or near aerodromes for alighting purposes, so as to convert each beam into two or more beams so that a definite group of flashes is produced as the lamp revolves. The prismatic elements may be interchanged to allow the duration of the flashes to be altered. In one form, prisms are vertically arranged on the outer surface of the lantern front of a revolving projector. Fig. 7 shows a revolving lamp having three projector elements a equally spaced apart, the prismaticelements b causing the lamp when revolved to give a group of two short flashes, a group of two long flashes, and finally a short flash followed by a long flash.
