Cutting slices in succession. - A bread slicing machine of the type wherein a loaf descends in a vertical, or substantially vertical shoot and is cut by a reciprocating knife carrying an adjustable fence, is provided with two bread shoots C', C<2>, a diamond shaped knife A having cutting-edges a<1>, a<2>, and two fences or tables F<1>, F<2> having an aperture, shaped similarly to the knife, between them. The tables F<1>, F<2> are adjustably carried on pivoted levers f secured to the knifecarrying frame G which is slidable on guides H by a connecting rod j and crank J. A suitable guard covers the knife and reciprocating parts.
