Cutting slices in succession. - In a vertical frame comprised by a base 1, side posts 3 and top bar 2 a knife carrying slide is reciprocated by a hand-lever 8 secured by a pivot 9 to the slide and attached by a link 6 to the frame, the lever being provided with an adjustable counterweight 14. The frame is provided with a lower fixed cutting shelf 16 having a detachable steel bar 34 to cooperate with the knife and an upper shelf 17, rotatable about a shaft 18 that is removably secured by a bayonet socket catch in the frame. The knife carrying slide comprises side rails 24 and a bridge piece 25 and carries an outer blade 28, an inner blade 29 and a comb-blade plate 30 bridging over the space between the blades 28, 29. All the blades are detachable for sharpening or replacing and are adjustable for the cutting required. The outer blade may be used in co-operation with either the upper or the lower shelf but the upper shelf only can be used with the inner blade and the comb-blades. The outer blade is screwed to the side rails 24 and is preferably formed with an inclined edge. The blade 29 is supported by side bars 35 connected together by a transverse bar 37 that also carries the combblade plate 30 of which the individual blades project from a bar 38. The bar 38 may be secured on the bar 37 so that the comb-blades project either about up to the plane of the blade 29 or about twice that distance. The bar 37 is positioned on the bridge-piece 25 by studs 50 and is held thereon by swing-bolts 40. The lower blade 28 is used for cutting slices, the material to be cut being pressed up against an adjustable gauge plate 46.
