Abstract

148,030. Maconochie, A. W. June 6, 1919 Cutting and slicing vegetables &c.-A machine for cutting oranges or other fruits or vegetables comprises vertically and horizontally reciprocating blades or saws to which the fruit &c. is fed by an horizontally reciprocating table. The table 6 is formed with angular recesses 30, each of which receives one fruit fed from a hopper or by hand. The vertical cutters 16 are spaced to correspond, and are mounted in a frame 17 which is reciprocated by means of an eccentric 18 on the main shaft 8. A single horizontal cutter 20 is carried bv slides 21 and reciprocated by a crank 24 and a slotted lever 23 pivoted at 34. A spring 27 and lever 28 assist the movement. Vertical slots 31 and a horizontal slot are formed in the table 6 to accommodate the blades when the table approaches the end of its stroke. The table is operated by an eccentric 7 and levers 9, 14.
