Abstract

Cutting and slicing vegetables &c.-Slicing- machines, of the type in which the meat &c. is placed on a table in front of an horizontal rotary cutting-disk and is then pushed by hand on to a receiving-table above the cutter, are fitted (1) with a reciprocating carriage on which is mounted a meat-supporting frame having a vertical downward feed-motion whereby the necessity for a receiving-table is obviated, and (2) with an adjustable table for positioning the meat before clamping it to the frame. The meat is clamped to a vertical table n, Figs. 1 and 2, which slides on a vertical flange of a carriage i. The carriage is reciprocated on rails f by means of a handle m, and on the return movement after each slicing stroke a pawlcarrying lever s strikes an adjustable stop t and rotates a vertical screw p engaging a nut on the table n to feed the meat downwards. To prevent waste at the commencement of the slicing operation, an adjustable table v is positioned below the knife at a distance equal to the thickness of the slice desired, and the meat is positioned for clamping by being placed thereon. After the clamping operation, the table is lowered out of the way.
