Abstract

Cutting slices in succession. - A machine for slicing bacon &c., of the kind comprising a rotary disk knife a and a reciprocating table b, is provided with a stationary vertical plate i lying close to the edge of the knife to support the face of the bacon as it moves towards the knife. The vertical plate i is curved in horizontal section, as shown in Fig. 2, and is secured to a vertical rod l, the lower end of which is adjustable by a screw k to vary the thickness of the slice. The meat is held by a spiked plate e slidable vertically on uprights g secured to a transverse slide b<1> on the reciprocating table b. By this arrangement, the bacon can be sliced until the part remaining is very thin.
