Abstract

711,292. Bread slicers. CONCENTRIC MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1952 [Aug. 28, 1951], No. 20226/51. Class 5 (1) A loaf placed in a hopper is pressed through sets of slicing blades 6 by the grooved foot 24 or a hinged flap of a gravity moved lid 19, the pressure causing the foot 24 to move slightly towards its casing 23 against the pressure of light distancing springs 27 whereby a peg 28 closes a switch 29 to start horizontal reciprocation of the blades 6 only when hand access to them is thereby blocked. Lifting of the lid 19 for the next leaf then stops reciprocation of the blades. The slices pass through a shoot 13 between adjustable end plates 14. The blades 6 are reciprocated from a motor driven crank shaft 7 which reciprocates two frames 5 carrying the sets of blades 6 in opposed directions. The blades are suitably tensioned by the pull of hooks 9 on blade pegs 10, the hooks being pulled against fork abutments 12 by nuts 11. The end plates 14 for holding the slices together are slidably adjusted apart on rods and clamped thereon by screw knobs 15. Crumbs fall into a trough 17 and pass through an outlet 18.
