Abstract

229,028. Ireland, F. Nov. 29, 1923. Vehicle lamps; mounting electric lamps in lanterns; lens holders special to lanterns. - An anti-dazzle vehicle lamp comprises a preferably parabolic axially adjustable reflector 17, an axially adjustable light source 5, and two, preferably plano-convex, lenses 23, 22, mounted in telescopic holders 21, 20, the holder 20 being bolted to the casing 12. The light source 5 preferablv consists of an electric lamp, which is secured in a screw-threaded carrier 7, passing through an aperture in the reflector 17 and a ring 13 on the casing 12, and provided with an operating-nut 14, held in position by a bridge piece 15, and a lock-nut 14a. The holder 21 is preferably provided with a bolt, passing through a spiral slot 26 in the holder 20 and secured in adjusted position by a nut 27, or it may be adjusted by a rack and pinion. Plano-concave or double concave lenses may be used. According to the Provisional Specification, the lenses may be adjusted relatively to the light source, which may be an acetylene burner.
