Abstract

216,399. Kirkwood, D. Aug. 7, 1923. Buffers; cam-actuated pumps; double-acting piston punps; revolving-cylinder pumps; valves, arrangement of.-The plunger 15 is reciprocated by a cam 20 formed in a rotary member 11, 12 provided with ports 22, 23, which control the inlet and discharge of the fluid. The member 11, 12 serves also as the pump barrel. The cam 20 may actuate, the plunger by means of a ball 19 engaging an annular groove 18 in the plunger. When one of the ports 22, 23 is open to suction 5, the other is open to discharge 6. Buffers 16, 17 are arranged at the ends of the barrel to prevent shock. The member 11, 12 may be in two parts, the adjacent ends of which are of helical shape to form the cam slot 20.
