429,744. Regulating compressors. BROOM & WADE, Ltd., High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and PRESTAGE, E., 74, Great Russell Street, London. Jan. 5, 1935, No. 417. [Class 8 (i)] A compressor having a sleeve valve 1 reciprocated between the piston and cylinder, and provided with inlet and outlet ports, as in Specification 467/14, [Class 8 (i)], has a relief aperture 13 in the cylinder head, leading to an outlet 14 to atmosphere and closed by a valve 7 upheld by a spring. The receiver pressure conveyed through a port 17 depresses a piston 15 surrounding the valve stem and opens the valve to the cylinder at a certain pressure. A set screw 19 or a leveractuated cam may be used to open the valve at starting.
