Abstract
449,670. Actuating pumps. STOUTZ, R. DE, 36, Kreuzbuhlstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. Jan. 27, 1936, No. 2476. Convention date, Feb. 2, 1935. [Class 102 (i)] 'Relates to pumps, particularly for viscose, of the type having a revolving cylinder body 5 and plungers 7, reciprocated in bores parallel or radial to the driving shaft by opposed cams, one 11 for the suction stroke and the other 8 for the discharge stroke. Either the cylinder body or the cam tracks may revolve. The invention consists in means for avoiding variations in the discharge due to wear in the cam tracks. In the development, a plunger 7 is shown in various positions. The discharge stroke a is effected by the cam rise I-III and is shorter than the suction stroke IV-VI by a distance b, less a distance s representing the lost motion due to wear. This lost motion is taken up by a cam rise VI-VIII while the cylinder bore is still open to the suction port 17 in the valve 3. The plunger then moves on the level portion VIII-I of the cams until the discharge port 18 opens. The invention is applicable also to a radial cylinder pump.
