676,137. Reciprocating pumps. BRITISH COTTON INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Feb. 14, 1951 [Feb. 14, 1950], No. 3686/50. Class 102 (i) In a reciprocating pump the piston 22 is given a stationary period or dwell at each end of its stroke, and mechanically operated inlet and outlet valves 13, 13a are so actuated during the dwell that the inlet valve closes before the outlet valve opens and vice versa. The piston is actuated by a cam 23 and the valves by cams 20, 20a which may both be mounted on a common shaft.
