Abstract
187,373. Truman, W. E., and Hodgetts, J. H. Aug. 13, 1921. Valveless pumps; plungers; eccentric-actuated pumps.-In valveless pumps in which inlet and outlet parts in the cylinder wall are uncovered alternately by a ported piston, the piston is reciprocated by an eccentric on a shaft passing through the cylinder wall, and may be made double-acting. The cylinder 1 is closed at each end by a cap 2 and contains a piston 3, having ports 12, 13 co-operating respectively with inlet and outlet ports 8, 9 in the cylinder wall, which is reciprocated by an eccentric 6 on a shaft 4. As shown in Fig. 5, the pump is double acting, the piston being formed with cavities in each end having ports 12, 12<1>, 13, 13<1> co-operating respectively with inlet and outlet ports 8, 9. In a further modification, separate inlet and outlet ports are provided for each end of the pump.
