Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - A relief valve d loaded by an adjustable spring e for controlling the injection air pressure is fitted either in a high-pressure delivery pipe between the compressor and the injection nozzle, or in a pipe connecting two stages in a multi-stage compressor. The spring is adjusted by hand or by a centrifugal governor through the intermediary of a piston f subject on its lower side to the pressure of oil from the engine lubricating system, the ingress and egress of the oil being controlled by a tubular sleeve h carried by the piston f, and by a valve o in such a manner that the piston follows the movement of the valve when the latter is adjusted by hand or by the governor through the intermediary of the crank q and rod p.
