Regulating delivery by bypasses.-A fuel pump for internalcombustion engines comprises a movable cylinder d connected by a rod j and arm k to the governor and provided with a by-pass port e through which the liquid is forced during the delivery stroke until the piston a covers it. The areas of the inner and outer end surfaces of the rod j and cylinder d are so chosen that the liquid pressure in the pump does not produce thrust on the governor. In a modification, the liquid is delivered through the delivery valve i until a passage in the piston registers with the port e.
