Abstract

148,730. Cameron, W. March 26, 1919. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-Fuel feed apparatus for an internal-combustion engine comprises a feed-pump 6 connected by a pipe 15 to the intake of one or more fuel injection pumps 20. The delivery of the pump 6 is regulated by an accumulator 13 and a by-pass valve,14. The pump 20 is actuated by a cam 21 acting on a roller 22<x> on the pump-rod which is connected by a link 23 to a hand-wheel 28 for the purpose of adjusting the length of stroke and time of injection. The stroke of the pump 6 may also be adjusted by the same wheel through a link 31<x>. In another form, the roller 22<x> is carried by a lever pivoted on an adjustable eccentric or on the pins of a crank. The injection valve comprises a stem 36 of two diameters loaded by a spring 38, which is adjusted by a screw-cap 39. The fuel enters by the pipe 30, duct 40 and chamber 42, and lifts the valve.
