Abstract

118,237. Usines G. Derihon, Soc. Anon., and Derihon, E. March 13, 1918. Regulating.-Relates to engines in which carburetted air is supplied at constant pressure at any altitude or under different atmospheric conditions, the air being compressed into a reservoir fitted with a relief valve, as described in Specification 116,644. An outlet 4, 6 from the reservoir to the atmosphere is controlled by a piston valve 7 having one end 9 subject to atmospheric pressure and the other end 8 to a vacuum, created by connecting the space 18 to a vacuum pump or to the induction pipe or inlet conduit of the engine. The piston 7 is controlled by an adjustable spring 15, and has a port 16 constantly open to the passage 4 and a port 17 which opens to an outlet 6 to an extent dependent on the variations in atmospheric pressure acting on the end 9 of the piston. The spring 15 may be adjusted bv means of a sliding collar 14 connected by a rod 24 to a bell-crank lever 23.
