Abstract

532,072. Regulating. BOSCH GES., R. Aug. 16, 1939, No. 23592. Convention date, Aug. 16, 1938. [Class 7 (vi)] The control rod 2 of the fuel pump 1 is fitted with a collar 6 adapted to engage a stop 47 which is adjusted through a servomotor 43 in accordance with induction pipe pressure acting on a capsule 36, and temperature acting on a thermostat 58, and with atmospheric pressure acting on a capsule 62. The capsule 36 adjusts the servomotor through a lever 38 pivoted at 39 and a bell crank 41, the free end 48 of which slides-in the forked arm 49 of a lever 50 moved by the thermostat, the arrangement being such that equal changes of induction-pipe pressure cause displacements of the stop 47 ,which increases progressively with reduction of the temperature. The pivot 51 of the lever 50 is carried eccentrically on a disc 60 connected to the capsule 62, so that decrease in atmospheric pressure increases the supply of fuel. The control rod 2 of the fuel pump is connected to a spring-pressed diaphragm 14, the righthand side of which is connected directly to the induction pipe by a valve 16 when the operating hand-lever 10 is in the stopping position A or idling position B, but is cut off from the induction pipe when the lever 10 is in the full-load position C or starting position D, the lever 10 being connected to the valve 16 by a rod 9, lever 7, and rod 15. The lever 7 also acts as an abutment to control the movement of the collar 6 independently of the stop 47. Air supplied by a supercharger 25 is controlled by throttles 26, 27, the former being adjusted by an arm 71 and bellows 65 subjected to the induction-pipe pressure, and the latter being opened by an arm 29 and a stop 32 on the rod 9 in positions between idling and full load. At starting, the throttle 26 is fully opened by another stop 68 on the rod 9, and extra fuel is supplied by means of a button 72 which through links 73, 74, 75 extends the rod 2 to the left against the action of a spring 4. In a modification, the valve 16 is omitted, and the stop coacting with the collar 6 is controlled directly by a piston subjected at one side to inductionpipe pressure and at the other side to atmospheric pressure.
