Abstract

[Class 57] [Also in Group XXXV] The control rack 9 of a fuel-injection pump is actuated by a diaphragm 17 loaded by a spring 22 and subjected to the pressure of the induction pipe 21 between a. throttle valve 24 and the engine. The maximum normral delivery is determined by a stop 23. A collar on the rack 9 is pressed into engagement with the diaphragm by a spring 14 and the rack is connected by a flexible member 30 to a rod 34 for actuating the switch 35 of the starting motor so that an excess quantity of fuel may be delivered at starting. In a modification, the diaphragm and rack are connected by a claw that may be released at starting. Fig. 2 shows a further modification wherein a member 48 has a slot 50 in which is located a pin 51 on the rack 44, engaged by a spring 52. The stop is formed by a lever 54 having an adjusting pin 54a and loaded by a spring 55 which opposes the spring 53 in the full load range of movement of the rack 44. The excess delivery is obtained by operating rod 34a and the fuel delivery is reduced to zero by operating rod 68.
