Abstract

491,274. Speed governors. AUSTIN MOTOR CO., Ltd., and COLELL, R. F. Sept. 8, 1937, No. 24449. [Class 57] The regulating rack C of a fuel injection pump A is connected to a diaphragm D loaded by a spring F and located in a chamber E connected by a pipe e to the air induction system between the engine and a throttle valve. A centrifugal governor H is mounted on the shaft B and the sleeve K is loaded by a spring L and actuates a lever M having a stop P to limit the movement of the rack C in a direction to increase the fuel supply. During running under load, the governor holds the sleeve K against the stop g<1> but when at rest the spring L moves the stop P to allow more fuel to be used during starting.
