Abstract

405,050. Regulating reservoir pressure; mixing air and gas. AMAL, Ltd., and BROWN, C., Holford Drive, Perry Barr, Birmingham. Aug. 12, 1932, No. 22615. [Class 7 (ii).] An arrangement for feeding engines from a source of compressed gaseous fuel comprises a gas mixer in combination with a number of reducing-valves arranged in series for reducing the pressure by effective stages. Fluid arriving by the conduit 10 under a pressure of, say, 3000 lb. per sq. in. passes first through a valve 11 actuated by a spring-loaded piston 12 whereby the pressure is reduced to say 40 to 60 lb. The outlet conduit 15 from the valve 11 leads to a second reducing-valve 17 actuated by a spring- loaded diaphragm 18 adapted to reduce the pressure still further to just below atmospheric. The outlet 20 from this valve is connected to the annular chamber 25 of the gas mixer, where it passes through slots 24 into a Venturi-shaped air conduit provided with a throttle valve 23. To provide a supply of gas for slow running, a bye-pass controlled by a spring-loaded ball valve 27 connects the conduit 15 with the chamber 25.
