Abstract

217,138. Fornaca, G. Dec. 1, 1923. Regulating. - The quantity of air or mixture supplied to the engine is automatically varied in accordance with variations of barometric pressure by means of a throttle valve 16 controlling outlet ports 18 provided in a branch 10 leading from the delivery pipe 9 of the compressor 2, the valve 16 being connected to a piston device 22 subjected on one side to atmospheric pressure, and on the other side to the action of a spring 24 and a constant vacuum maintained by a pump 27. In a modification having the carburettor 4 arranged in the suction pipe of the compressor 2, the throttle valve 16 is also arranged in this suction pipe. The piston device 22, in either form, mav be adjusted by means of a lever 13 connected to the valve rod 19 by a spring 12, or loosely engaging a stop on the rod 19.
