Spray carburettors.-In aircraft engines where. in compressed air is temporarily supplied to the carburettor c at high altitudes, a fuel pump i is provided in the normal fuel supply conduit, the inlet and delivery sides g, g<1> of the pump being connected by a by-pass k controlled by a valve k<1> actuated from another valve d adapted to connect the carburettor either with the compressor b or with the atmosphere. When the compressor is in action the by-pass is closed and the fuel supplied under pressure, but when atmospheric air is being drawn into the carburettor, the by-pass valve is opened and the fuel pressure corresponds with that of the atmosphere. The pump i may bd driven from the engine.
