Abstract

198,207. Scott, W. H. May 18, 1922. Applied by speed regulators. - In a combined centrifugal brake and manual stopping brake for electric deck-winches &c. the stopping brake is arranged within an extension of the rotary drum carrying the centrifugal brake blocks, the whole being enclosed in one casing. The centrifugal blocks d which coact with the fixed casing e are mounted on spring-restrained pins a which are carried by a rotary drum b attached to the boss b<3> by webs b<2>. The drum b is extended at b<4> to encircle and coact with internal expanding brake shoes h. These shoes are pivoted on a fixed pin i and are expanded against the action of springs k to stop the machine by a cam J which is actuated by a lever j<2>. The casing e is extended at e<2> to enclose the manually operated 'brake.
