Abstract
292,751. Baillot, E. May 24, 1927. Blocks and shoes octing on drums.-An internal shoe brake comprises two or more segmental shoes adapted to be displaced radially simultaneously to engage the drum by means of eccen. tric pins on rotatable discs interconnected by links. The brake shown comnrises three shoes 2, 2<1>, 2<11> each guided radially by pins 5 projecting from a fixed plate into slots 4 in the shoes. A disc 9 secured to an operating spindle carries eccentric pins 10, 11 connected by links 12, 13, 13<1> to the shoe 2 and to pins 14, 16 on two other discs 9<1>, 9<11>. The pin 15 on the disc 9<1> and the, pin 16 on the disc 9<11> are respectively connected to the shoes 2<1>, 2" by links. The second pin 17 on the disc 9" is not necessary. Thus by turning the spindle of the disc 9 all the shoes are applied to the drum, They are disengaged by springs 3. The shoes when applied to the drum receive a slight circumferential displacement permitted by the play in the guiding means 4, 5, and this movement causes an initial pressure to be applied to the shoes due to the turning movement of the rods 12 on the discs.
