Abstract
192,149. Henderson, R. I. Oct. 25, 1921. Spray carburettors.-The fuel needle valve is mounted adjustably in a block which is actuated from the throttle valve through toothed sectors. Fuel passes a spring-loaded valve 6 and enters a chamber 3 which supplies a main nozzle 9 and a slow running nozzle 23. The main nozzle has a tapered outlet which is controlled by a correspondingly tapered valve 13 screwed into a block 12 and provided with a spring-retained adjusting head 15. The block 12 and a sector 21 on the throttle valve 22 are provided with teeth which gear with teeth on a member 19 mounted on a spindle 18 which is nearer the fuel valve than the throttle. The slow running nozzle is controlled by a cap 26 connected to member 19 in such a manner that the slow running nozzle is opened as the main is closed and vice versa. The chamber 3 ensures a supply of fuel for re-starting. Air enters through pivoted flaps 28 in a square pipe 29 and a choking valve 30 is actuated in unison with the throttle.
