Abstract

2555. Carrel, C. M. March 11, 1914, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-The carburettor comprises three concentric nozzles 1, 2, 3 of which 1, 2 are supplied with fuel from the reservoir 19 through the pipe 22, chamber 5, and conduits 4, 6, and the outer nozzle 3 is supplied through the pipe 18 and conduit 7 with compressed air, which enters the fuel reservoir at 20 and is carburetted by passing through the fuel. The supply of this carburetted air is controlled by a piston 9 which is actuated by a cam 11 and an arm 10, which is adapted to rotate a ported disk 12 in the chamber 5. The small fuel conduit 4 is in action with the small port 17 in the compressed-air conduit, but the larger conduit 6 only is in action when both ports 16, 17 are open. The air and fuel supplies may be controlled separately. A fan 23 placed over gauze 24 ensures a plentiful supply of air, and when accelerating, the air valve 25 may.be closed and compressed air admitted at 26. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) states also that the mixture may be used for supplying lamps on the vehicle on which the carburettor is being used ; this subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
