Abstract

109,853. Austin Motor Co., and Kinchin, J. W. Oct. 6, 1916. Spray carburettors.-At closed or nearly closed positions of the throttle valve, light fuel only is supplied to the induction pipe, but at open positions of the throttle for working under load, heavy fuel only is supplied, the light fuel being automatically cut off. Heavy fuel is supplied from a float chamber B to the main nozzle C, and light fuel is supplied from a float chamber D to a nozzle E surrounded by a tube F which is perforated at f to admit air and delivers mixture to the induction pipe through apertures g, g<1>. The apertures g<1> are normally closed by a spring-loaded valve H, the spindle of which projects through the wall of the induction pipe and is forced back, to open the valve H, by the edge of the throttle valve J when moved to its closed position. The edge of the throttle valve may be cut away to provide a passage for the mixture. The other edge of the throttle valve may control a bypass k fed with heavy fuel from a pilot nozzle K. To adapt the invention to existing apparatus, the float chamber D may be secured by a disk d and screws d<1>.
