Abstract
20,886. Relitz, A. Oct. 12. Couplings, disconnectible; overlap joints with tapered spigot or socket.-A coupling for hosepipes comprises a conical socket 1 and corresponding spigot 2, the socket having recesses 10 adapted to receive projections 11 formed on a flange 8 on the spigot member. A retaining- ring 12 of elongated form is pivoted to a lug 13 and connected by a link 16 to a lever 15 pivoted to a lug 14. The spigot is passed through the ring 12 and rotated to bring the projections 11 behind the ring and in register with the recesses 10. The lever 15 is then moved towards the body of the coupling, drawing the parts together. The link 16 passes over the dead-centre, thus retaining the parts in the coupled position. A washer 9 is compressed by the flange 8 into a corresponding recess at the mouth of the socket.
