Abstract

734,712. Pipe joints. CHIKSAN CO. March 30, 1953 [April 14, 1952], No. 8788/53. Class 99 (1). In a hinged joint for pipes P comprising a pair of elbows A, B connected by a rotary joint C, the pipes are secured in sockets 40 of the elbows by a coupling nut 45 screwing on to the socket and engaging an annular collar 42 having a conical surface which makes sealing contact with a conical seat 66 in the socket. A sealing ring 43 may be provided in a groove in the pipe end. A key 60 secured to the socket engages a slot in the pipe end. The spigot-and-socket joint C has ball-bearings 20, a sealing ring E engaged by a shoulder on the spigot 12, and a sealing ring F in a groove of the spigot near the mouth of the socket 11.
