Abstract

19,247. Soc. F. & G. Longuemare FrÞres. Oct. 24, 1910, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-To get normal mixture at low and high engine speeds and enriched mixture when accelerating, two jets are provided and an auxiliary reservoir of fuel. The auxiliary jet comprises a tube 9 passing axially through the main jet and terminating at the upper end in a pocket 15. For slow running. the main supply of mixture is closed, and mixture is drawn from the pocket 15, the air passing up the annular space 17 and through the adjustable opening 18. The main jet comprises a socket 2 with internal chamber 5 surmounted by a flanged cap 4 and provided with oblique radial passages 6 terminating in a common groove 7 in such a manner as to produce the distribution of the fuel in an horizontal sheet. The two jets are led from a common passage 10 communicating, firstly, with the constant level chamber through an adjustable passage 22, and secondly, with the reservoir 20 by passages 27, the reservoir communicating with the atmosphere by the passage 25. At low speeds, only the auxiliary jet is in action and the reservoir 20 is not drawn upon. When the valve 12 is opened above the main jet, the suction draws upon the reservoir 20. At high speeds air is drawn into the passage 10, making a kind of emulsion which damps the supply of fuel to the engine.
