Window opening and closing apparatus.-The upper and lower sashes are fitted with racks E, J gearing with compound wheels H, K, revolving on pins secured to the window frame, thus permitting one sash to travel faster than the other. The window may be hinged to the frame so as to open bodily for cleaning. Rollers and metal plates held in contact by springs may be used instead of pinions and racks for light sashes.
